If you are on vacation in Thailand or you have decided to leave for this beautiful location, you cannot help but visit the beautiful places of Phuket, an island located in the south of Thailand, about an hour flight from Bangkok. It is a truly wonderful place, which can offer many attractions to tourists, not only to those interested in entertainment, but also to those who love adventure or swimming in the clear waters of this beautiful sea.
The positive aspect of holidays in Thailand is that this place is suitable for all types of travel: families with children can enjoy relaxation and fun by visiting the best attractions for the little ones, while those who love adventure, sport and social life will not be disappointed by the presence of many dedicated attractions. If you belong to this second category, you may be interested in an adventure holiday: therefore, you may like to climb a mountain road with dense vegetation or snorkel or, again, go out in the evening and appreciate the culinary culture Thai. In short, the beauty of traveling to Thailand is that there really is something for everyone!
We realize that Thailand is beautiful to live and visit and that there are no attractions that are not worth seeing: the choice of places to go must be personal and according to your experiences, your possibilities and your tastes. Furthermore, the advice we can give you is to experience your holiday in this splendid location in an adventurous and extreme way, also being ready to change course and perspective: without being forced by excessive planning and time and time limits, you can return home pleasantly satisfied and enriched by a truly unforgettable experience, which will have allowed you to get to know the local culture better (and seriously).
However, there are tourist attractions in Phuket that we want to recommend to you because they are really worth visiting. Since Thailand is large, and the attractions are many, we have opted for the choice of some of these specifically, but this does not mean that there are not others. Here are the ones that could really be for you!
- Kata Noi Beach: it is truly a beautiful beach that you can visit not far from Patong Beach. Compared to the latter, it is less touristy, but therefore more appreciated by those who love clean white sand and the pristine waters of the sea that laps it. If you get there in the evening, you can’t help but stop for a cocktail in one of the fantastic bars on the beach!
- Big Buddha: it’s the true landmark of the island, which is why we recommend that you find some time to visit this statue. You can see it from afar from anywhere in Phuket because it is very beautiful and impressive, but we recommend that you follow the path to Nakkerd Hill to visit it up close and realize how impressive this religious symbol of the inhabitants of Phuket is. You will be delighted!
- Wat Chalong: if you went to visit the Buddha statue, we recommend that you stop here too, because it is the most important dedicated temple you will find on the island (there are 29 of them). It is interesting not only for its history which dates back to 1876 (when two monks led the citizens against the Chinese rebellion) but also for the stunning architecture it offers, with a cascading roof and many rich ornamental details.
- Karon Viewpoint: always on the subject of breathtaking landscapes and beautiful things to see, we also suggest this area, which you can also quickly reach in modo. Looking at Phuket from the top of Karon is an evocative experience, which we suggest you experience as a couple, and, even better, at sunset!
- Banzaan Fresh Market: you cannot miss the Phuket market, because it is this place that tells you about the lively daily life of the local community. Here you will find traditional food, Thai-style clothing, and all the real souvenirs that the place can offer, without spending too much money: in fact, it is a fairly cheap and convenient market.
- Surin Beach: returning to the theme of beach and sea, you could also visit this famous resort. It is very easy to reach by scooter, even if it is located in the north of the island: here you will also find many opportunities to enjoy relaxing snorkeling experiences. A positive aspect is that you will not be forced to share the beach with a large number of tourists: in fact, it is mostly populated by a few locals. A perfect way to get to know the community!
- Bang Pae Waterfall: you can find it not far from Sirinat National Park, and it is perfect not only to relax and escape the heat, but also to find a moment of communion with yourself, living fully in contact with nature and with soothing and peaceful sounds it offers. Incidentally, Bang Pae waterfall is also the largest in Phuket!
- Sirinat National Park: the park is located not far from Surin Beach, and is especially recommended for those who love adventurous life and in contact with nature. Here you can also see beautiful coral reefs and, if you’re lucky, watch the sea turtles hatch; in addition, there are many varieties of different birds!
- Phuket Elephant Sanctuary: supported by the founder of the Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai, it is the best sanctuary in the country. As its name suggests, here you can observe the elephants and interact with them, with the utmost respect for the animals. In this regard, we suggest you avoid all those places that, for marketing purposes, exploit wild animals, destroying their safety and serenity.
- Bangla Road: finally, we cannot fail to mention the social life of the most famous street in Phuket which, at night, comes alive to offer shows and entertainment dedicated especially to those who love nightlife!
